September 23, 2020
2020 has been a very difficult year and it has been devastating to the business that has been my life’s work for nearly 28 years. Since March, the pandemic has cost Barrington Community Child Care Center thousands of dollars in lost revenue and those losses continue as COVID-19 related restrictions, reduced enrollment capacity, staffing restrictions, increased operating expenses, remain in place in our industry. With these factors making it nearly fiscally impossible to continue our child care services and facing the strong possibility of continued losses, I am deeply saddened to inform you that Barrington Community Child Care Center will close its doors permanently on Friday, October 30, 2020.
In November, Barrington Park District will purchase the building for their own expansion purposes, facilitating additional programming and classes for the Barrington community.
I will dedicate my time after October 30 to clear the materials and equipment from the child care center as the Park District will take possession on November 16. I will also work hard to assist the most dedicated employees as they search for new employment. All are well qualified and very much needed in the child care field.
I also realize the unexpected burden this places on each of you and for that I sincerely apologize. I will assist you in any way possible in securing new child care arrangements for your family.
I hope that you remember Barrington Community Child Care Center as a safe place, a fun learning environment where long lasting relationships have begun for your child and family.
To the thousands of Barrington area families, I hope that my efforts and those of my staff have made a positive impact on your child’s first introduction into community and school.
I will truly miss the daily interactions that I have with each of you and hope to see you often as we all navigate this next path in our life’s journey.
